Oktoberfest in Porches   

German tradition arrives at the Vila Vita Biergarten in Porches to welcome another edition of Oktoberfest. Until 8 October, this popular Algarve-style beer festival combines the best Bavarian delicacies with the indescribable energy of southern Portugal.   

With various activities and lively giveaways, one of Germany's most renowned beers, Erdinger's Weissbier, is the star of the evening, always accompanied by music and festive moments at an event with free admission.  

Birdwatching & Nature Activities Festival in Sagres  

From 5 to 8 October, Sagres hosts the 14th edition of the Birdwatching & Nature Activities Festival. A get-together for nature lovers and birdwatchers in the Algarve, ecotourism and environmental education come together to create the perfect opportunity to explore the diversity of migratory birds that pass through the Algarve in early autumn.

Rota do Petisco, in Aljezur, Vila do Bispo, Lagos, Portimão, Monchique, Lagoa, Albufeira, Silves, Loulé and Tavira   

Until October 15, 10 Algarve regions invite you to take part in the Petisco Route, organised by the Teia D'Impulsos Association. This initiative features a gastronomic route in partnership with local restaurants, where a passport of just €1.50 is added to contribute to charitable causes, hosted by the Rota Solidária action.  

Feira de Stª Iria in Faro   

Finally, the capital of the Algarve hosts the Feira de Stª Iria, in Largo de S. Francisco, on the third weekend of the month, between 21 and 22 October. Here, one of the largest and oldest fairs in the Algarve (dating back to 1596) offers exhibitions, institutional stands, entertainment, craft shows and gastronomic spaces, so you can get to know the best of the local culture.
